“Lonicera Sempervirens – Native Honeysuckle” — C.Birde, 7/16
Planted to tempt hummingbirds,
native honeysuckle climbs and clambers
up over the garden arch,
wriggles amongst the privet,
stretches and tumbles unrestrained
in quest of sunlight.
Scarlet success on all counts.

Beautiful words. The image is fantastic too, but it’s a testament to your writing that it’s almost unnecessary! 🙂

Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for visiting! Sometimes, it seems the words arrange themselves beneath my fingers. I am always grateful and in awe of such moments. 🙂

I look forward to reading more of your stuff Carrie. And I agree, that moment of “flow” in amazing…now if only I could bottle and sell it….lol

Yes! If it were bottled, I’d take a careful sip each day!

Wonderful imagery! My daughter’s wildflower/fairy garden’s trellis entrance was covered in honeysuckle this summer! Such a beautiful vine!

I so agree! And it smells heavenly. So many have warned me that if I were to plant honeysuckle, it would take over and devour my yard. We shall see…last summer, I planted some at the base of a garden arch, and I eagerly await the arch’s eventual swallowing-by-vine 🙂 Thank you for visiting 🙂
