She pulls
the blankets up,
tucks us in,
and encourages us —
just a little longer —
to rest.

This is sweet… and immediately conjured up an image from a very long time ago (over 50 years). My mother coming into the bedroom “tucking us in for the night”. An intimate ritual long forgotten. Lovely. Thanks for that Carrie.

Thank you, Chris, and thank you for sharing that memory. There is some part of me, even now as an adult, that responds to “snow days” like a child — no school! Hot chocolate! Unstructured day! Here’s to all our mothers, Mother Nature, in particular 🙂
